i think i clench my teeth in the daytime now. every evening my jaw and my temples are kind of sore like they are in the morning when i have been grinding my teeth all night. i wear my gummy mouthguard all night now like a good girl, and sometimes i wake up chomping on it. but now i think i’m doing it during the day too. this is bad and stress-related, of course, but i’m not going to wear my mouthguard to school.
last night i wrote a long sob story for the financial aid people. it’s all about how my priority has always been school and i was so busy working on the 540 project that i didn’t have time to do the fafsa. this is, in fact, totally true. i knew it was due but i wasn’t functioning enough to even go to the grocery store, much less do my taxes and the fafsa.
anyway, i don’t expect the appeal to be successful, and even if it is it probably won’t get me the $15,000. but it’s worth a try. i also went to a job-hunting and résumé workshop yesterday so maybe i can pretend i want a reference/teaching assistantship.
now, back to cataloger’s taste and judgment re: a MARC record of a french translation of huck finn. yay!

Don’t wear the mouthguard to school- all the other kids will laugh at you. :) Kids are mean.
Hey Lauren I guess I dont totally understand. Is this loan money or scholarship money? It was my understanding that there was a rolling application process for loan money. And the secret is they really dont run out of it. But again that only applies to loans. I am really sorry to hear the stress this is bringing. I really hope it doth work out for the best.
i think that used to be true but now that enrollment is up and funding is down everywhere, they mean it. i don’t really think they would arbitrarily not give me $15,000 just to teach me a lesson about punctuality. i think the money really isn’t available.
but yes, it is almost entirely loans – i got work study this year, but other than that, the rest is loans, no grants or anything.
Sorry to hear about the troubles, Lauren–I’ll keep my fingers crossed, and say that you’re delaing with it much better than I would.
Now I feel bad because everyone else is being so kind and supportive and I just told you that the other kids will make fun of you. I hope this all gets worked out…. mwah
I’m sorry to hear about the money troubles, and I really hope it works out for you. Although if you’re in portland I’ll come visit more often!
Contrary to the popular belief, I think you should wear your mouthguard to school. Other people will understand if you just tell them that football practice has begun, and you’re the team’s starting librarian.
Get rid of the gummy mouthguard and get a proper one! Soft nightguards won’t fix yer muscles.
my friend just petitioned for more loans this term, and they handed him $1200. he didn’t get as much at the beginning of the term because he isn’t full time. so there’s that!
