I just came across an interesting story in the LA Times about this online network of librarians that you can ask questions of live via the Internet anytime of day or night. I'd link it here, but you have to log in to www.latimes.com, which isn't free, but there's this 14-day free trial thing... more work that it's worth, but I'm sure people can track down the story if they want.
