it takes one “the new year” and almost one “we looked like giants” for me to get all the way from the bar to my front door. i am skipping work today to sit at home in my pajamas, sniffling miserably and impatiently waiting four hours so i can take the next dose of cough syrup. i could be using this opportunity to clean my room, take out the garbage, start piling things up to go to goodwill … yep, i [...] today it is warm! it gave me a headache but after i got better i realized it was the perfect day for drilling holes in garbage cans (compost pile!) and learning to belly dance. (song: “ice cube,” clem snide) three unrelated paragraphs day: i feel like it hasn’t rained in forever but it is finally raining today. i had forgotten that i like waking up to rain-sound. unfortunately the lovely greyness of today also made me very lethargic so i didn’t get as much homework done as i had hoped. this is the Term of [...] this week, the student chapter of the american society for information science and technology is putting on icareer week, with a bunch of panels and things. this morning i went to the taxonomy panel and it was fabulous. i surprise myself sometimes: sitting there listening to these people who build taxonomies and manage projects and [...] i get to build a controlled vocabulary about fashion design. it’s very exciting. no, really. it is. (song: “outro (with bees),” neko case. sorry for using the same song twice. it is just the right song to use right now.) look what i did! the snow gods have heard my call for Sunday Snow Day and have allowed me not to have to go to work! (song: “outro (with bees),” neko case) in direct opposition to ‘most everyone else ever, as far as i can tell, i am pleased that it appears to have decided not to snow, at least today. on the other hand, i was kind of excited about the idea of a snow day, so i’m declaring sunday to be Snow Day even if [...] i had one thing on my agenda last week – one! – and i managed to avoid doing it all week. i made stitch markers with little beads; i made crêpes and ratatouille and salmon with green sauce and blueberry sorbet and cherry sorbet; i finished two books; i spent a whole day putting songs [...] |
