make me sort of glad that i waited till today

paradoxically, waking up super early (6:45 today, whyyy?) always makes me have to scramble to get out the door in time, because it throws me off of my normal schedule and i spend the whole morning goofing off. i would usually be waking up about now, checking email briefly, and getting in the shower. instead i am posting here. this is decidedly not something that will help me catch my bus to meet shannon and learn how to do archival cataloging.

a lot of things got very different very quickly over the last week! i was planning to move out to lake city in august or so, but then came a letter from the landlady saying that she wanted to sell the house, so G. either needed to move out or to buy it. for a couple of days there was frantic calling of bankers and arranging of loans from parents so he could buy it. then he decided he didn’t want to do it, so i had to switch gears into two-bedroom-house-rental-hunting mode, which is no fun.
and then for birthday he recieved a new powerbook, which means i got the “old” powerbook, which is terribly exciting! mac for meee! i love it.
and now when we find the perfect house with a basement and a fenced yard and a big kitchen and an easy walk to the bus to downtown and campus, we will have seven computers in it.

(song: “rollerskate skinny,” the old 97s. i just learned that rollerskate skinny is from catcher in the rye!)

WOW. You will have us beat by TWO!
I’m sorry to hear he didn’t buy it. :( But yay, laptop!!!

  • yeah, that includes the mac mini mate or whatever they’re calling it, the one that’s just a hard drive and a bunch of ports, which is not here yet. it also includes the ones that don’t work (my old windows laptop).
it does not include ipods, which i think could count if one were picky. there are four of those but two are broken.

  • Let’s see, Megs and I each have out primary computers, then there’s the Linux box, and three old laptops… I guess that means you have us beat by one, but at least our six all work (if slowly) and we’ve got one more than Shelby and Eric! =P

    Nerd Pride!

It is only because I gave Jaime my laptop for vet school that I don’t have Chris & Megan tied. :) And if you want to count ipods, broken and working, then we’ll have a new number. :) Does our DVR count? Our Xbox, PS2, Gamecube, Gameboy Advance SPs? Actually, this is one contest I don’t want to win. :)

  • meeka!

    that is SO many computers.

tho’ i suppose that we have 3, which is a lot for having a technophobe mother. does the ipod count? it is a very small computer.

You have a mini mate? Green w/envy

That’s like eating the last cookie. >:P

  • Not yet, and it won’t be mine. You’ll have to talk to The Macintosh Guy here. He’s getting that for his birthday as well, in addition to the new PowerBook and the new 40gb iPod.

    Not that I’m jealous.

Wait, Shelby, do you have an iPod?
I don’t know if gaming systems count.

I cohabitate with someone who has a working iPod and a couple broken other brands. Therefore, they are mine. :) Just like the new laptop he just bought is MINE! heh heh. :)

  • That’s not what I hear. Seems that E was using it to play WoW and you were using the old desktop. =P

well, we obviously didn’t communicate to you that I WANTED the desktop, because I find it really hard to play WoW with a touchpad mouse. For regular things, I like the laptop.

We have almost two. alas. and an ipod, but it’s mini. (and only mine in the sense that Shelby’s is hers)

If we could start counting fancy kitchen machines, instead of computers, I would be set!!
