Today's running song

Superchunk, “Train from Kansas City.”

This claims to be Superchunk’s first live performance, in Raleigh, 1989. They are badly mic’d, and also are rocking really hard and awesomely, and should be listened to, because they are awesome (also tiny bassist is adorable and AWESOME). But the studio version is what my running mix knows about:

I am still on Week 3, Day 3 of Couch to 5k. I think this is the 4th time I have done Week 3 Day 3 (which is the same as days 1 and 2 of week 3), because I have been leaving 2-4 weeks between sessions. Even with the long periods between, I am still holding my own with the workout, which is: Warm-up walk of 5 minutes, then run 1.5 minutes, walk 1.5 minutes, run 3 minutes, walk 3 minutes; then another repetition of run 1.5 minutes, walk 1.5 minutes, run 3 minutes, walk 3 minutes; then a cool-down walk of 5 minutes. My magical app says my walking pace is 15:20/mi — this is slow for my general walking, but I figure it is because I am usually trying not to fall over between runs, though also an under-16-min-mile is NOT slow — and my running pace is 9:26. I remember saying to G. not so long ago, “someday I will run a ten-minute mile!” Then I got this app and looked at it and was like “oh.” Obviously I’m not maintaining it yet, but today was 2.3 miles in 30 min, so I’m not complaining. I’m just running.
