One thing that really helped me was building up as my first move, instead of out, as well as learning that I could put the balloons on any goo ball, not just ones on the top.

My TV isn’t quite wide enough to show both ends, but on the left, the frog is just barely cut off, and on the right, the pipe is close enough to the last point of the last triangle that it was able to get all the goo balls.

I’ve been partially succeeding in my efforts to become frugal (since we will soon have only one steady income due to G being laid off) but the past few days have pretty much been a failure. Saturday night we met up with Buck and Shan at Txori, my new favorite place, for some delicious pintxos before seeing Batman at The Big Picture, downtown Seattle’s theater with drinks. (Oh, McMenamin’s, where are you?) It was a good time, though I made G hook up the VCR so I could watch my old tape of “Ten Things I Hate About You” to try to recover from Batman. Yikes. And then of course I ended up drunkenly buying a DVD of the same (fortunately only $10 on Amazon).
I have absolutely no idea what we did on Sunday and I will probably come back and edit this as soon as I figure it out.
Monday, G went to help another farmer slaughter chickens, and to learn how to do it. When he got home we had dinner with his folks and they gave us their old iPhones!!! So there’s that. (!!!) And the mail brought my new wallet from RocketScienceStyle on Etsy, and G’s new shoes.
Then there was some chicken feed, but I guess that doesn’t quite count as consumerism in the same way as the iPhone.

In conclusion, um … iPhone!!!

Updates to the farm blog about last weekend’s weather, chickens, ducks, seedlings, etc. Click on over there to read; too long to reproduce here.

Updates to this blog, just so stupid shoe angst isn’t at the top of the page anymore.

I work from home on Thursdays, which I probably don’t deserve but for which I negotiated when I was hired (and for which I am very thankful). Today after lunch, I moved the chickens from the coop out to their temporary pen in the middle of the yard. Later, I was chatting over IRC with a co-worker about a project we’re on, which led to the following conversation:

[14:10] lauren: i keep trying to come up with a nice graphical way to display it
[14:10] lauren: so as to avoid duplicating the tasks
[14:10] lauren: it seems that the task:goal relationship is many-to-many
[14:11] lauren: escaped chicken, brb
[14:13] lauren: back now
[14:13] < coworker >: haha!

(I sent it to G. and he said I should blog it, so here it is. Plus I really wanted the shoes to go away. Anyway I kept the green shoes; they are awesome.)

I dreamed about blogging this weekend.

I hate that verb, to blog. I don’t mind the related nouns — I have a blog, I am a blogger — but the verb makes me cringe. I don’t know why. I avoid it whenever possible and have no idea why I used it just there. Rewriting is too hard.

But anyway, I dreamed about it. In my dream I decided that I should post more, but I still didn’t have anything to say, so I decided to post links instead of blah blah my day was boring blah. But I didn’t post interesting links, nor any sort of commentary. I just posted the link itself. And to appease my apparently rabid fans on LiveJournal, I cross-posted everything from here over there. Then I decided that to make it look like I wrote more, I would also cross-post things from LJ to here. Somehow this didn’t end up with one post mirroring back and forth into eternity, but rather with a bunch of really stupid meaningless posts that mirrored back and forth only once.

This is nothing like real life, of course, you know.

Exciting news soon. Maybe on Friday? We’ll see.

Oh, here’s something that is happening. I am typing this while seated on an uncomfortable plastic chair at the stinky DMV (actually the Department of Licensing) waiting for them to call my number so I can pay my $20 for my Washington permit. Then I will be able to learn to drive the car we bought in November. So that’s exciting!
Also exciting is that I am able to write this from the DMV because of my fancy-ass new phone thingy, which I adore. It has a calendar! It has internets! It has a keyboard! It can talk to my beloved Mac at home and my awful PC at work! It can keep me from wanting to claw my eyes out at the DMV! Yay, Treo.

Today I got a mystery package. It was from CAT & GIRL. G. emailed me at work to say “Your package from Cat & Girl is here!” and I was very confused, because I did not order anything from Cat & Girl. So I was very excited to come home from the bar — not so excited that I didn’t drink three drinks, mind you — and figure out what the package was. True enough, it was from Cat & Girl: it is this shirt!!!
It’s a fish who wanted a bicycle and got one and “he’s the happiest fish in the god-damn world.” That fish may not need a bicycle, but damn, he really wanted one.
And there is a small hole in the bottom of the envelope, so if there was something in there indicating from whom it came, it might have fallen out. Or else it is a mystery package from a mystery sender who knows only my old Seattle address, and not my new one.

Thank you, mystery package sender!! You are awesome.

PS I do not need my bicycle, but damn, I love my bicycle.
