G. is sick. He made himself some rice to eat to feel better.
I came home and puttered around in the kitchen a bit and looked at stuff, then heated up some oil and tossed in some chopped Laughing Crow cabbage, Farmhouse Organics carrot, homegrown sugar snap peas, and homemade homegrown green garlic kimchi. When [...]
We have had dinner out the past two nights, plus lunch out today too, so there has been lots of meat and fat and salt etc. Delicious, but it gets tiring quickly.
Tonight I made a quick Bittman polenta with some homegrown tarragon, chives, and thyme, and added some of last year’s frozen sweet corn. [...]
We had date night before dinner. G. is off booze for a while because of a seizure due to a drug interaction + fatigue/exertion + dehydration, so we went out for ice cream instead. I had a double scoop with one scoop of sabayon (marsala custard) and one of blackberry, which is kind of what [...]
We drove home from Davis to our house in one straight shot. I can’t drive the truck, too, so it was all G. all the way.
We hit Eugene at dinnertime-ish, which was good because I had made loose plans with my old friend T. to meet up. We went to Pegasus Pizza at Oakway [...]
We had plans to have dinner with P. and J., who have had a stressful few weeks (… years) so we went with their standard comfort food, which is Whole Foods deli/steam tray stuff. I had some broccoli, some carrots-and-bok-choy thing, and some mashed potatoes with mushroom gravy. I don’t know, it made sense at [...]
Oh, a tired day.
G. had school so I did all the morning chores, then got myself all cleaned up and drove (all by myself!) down to Olympia to visit my grandma at my aunt’s house. It was a good visit all around, though the trip was a bit stressful. I’ve only had a license [...]
In my freezer sweep the other day, I grabbed a baggie of frozen slow-roasted tomatoes and a little jar of pesto, and hucked them in the fridge to thaw for an easy weeknight meal.
That was tonight! I usually work from home on Wednesdays, but I went in today, so G was on dinner duty. [...]
We went to see Tintin midday today, then came home and puttered about with laundry and dishes and what minor household chores G. could handle while recovering from his procedure yesterday — he can’t lift more than 15 lbs for a week. (This leaves me doing all chicken and pig chores, which is fine for [...]
We are celebrating Solstice tomorrow because (according to wikipedia) it actually happens at 5:30 tomorrow morning (Thursday the 22nd). I’m not really sure what this means, but I am guessing that tonight is still the longest night, but tomorrow (Thurs) is the shortest day? Anyway, Solstice is celebrated on Thursday chez Dropstone.
And that is [...]
